Lake County Captains News Release
Augusta, GA- Dirimo Chavez belted a solo home run in the eighth inning Monday night, lifting the Augusta GreenJackets to a 3-2 win over the Lake County Captains.
Chavez's homer, his first of the season, came against Captains reliever Kieran Mattison (1-1) leading off the bottom of the eighth. It snapped a 2-2 tie.
Lefty Ryan Beam came on to post his seventh save with a perfect ninth. Beam, an 18th round pick by the Red Sox earlier this summer, has not allowed a run in 14 innings since joing the GreenJackets.
The loss wasted a strong effort by Captains starter Dan Cevette, who worked 5 1/3 innings, and allowed four hits and two runs. He left with a 1-0 lead, but two runners on base, both of which eventually scored.
Matt Whitney and Clayton McCullough had RBI singles for the Captains (23-26, 59-60).
The Captains and Augusta will play again on Tuesday evening at 7:15 (WELW AM 1330).
