Jacksonville, Fla. - Jason Delaney knocked in the tying and go-ahead runs with an eighth inning double and sent the Jacksonville Suns (81-59, 41-29) to a 7-6 win over the Montgomery Biscuits (72-66, 34-36) on Monday, the final day of the regular season, in front of 4,162 at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Suns reliever Sandy Rosario (1-0) picked up the winning decision after two scoreless innings after a promotion from Class A Greensboro. Biscuits reliever Rayner Oliveros (2-7) allowed the Delaney double for the losing decision after two and one-thirds innings. Todd Doolittle (2) saved the game with a perfect ninth.
Montgomery built an early lead with a two-run first inning against Suns starter Jose Rosario. Drew Anderson walked and later scored on a Ryan Curry error for a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning Matt Fields drew a bases loaded walk for a 2-0 score.
The Biscuits added two in the second on a two-run home run from Anderson, opening a 4-0 lead.
Jacksonville got on the board in the third inning when Matt Dominguez doubled home Curry and Vinny Rottino, increasing his RBI total to 81, and cut the Montgomery lead to 4-2.
Montgomery's Henry Wrigley hit a two-out, two-run home run in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 6-2.
The Suns started the comeback bid in the fourth inning, when a two-out single from Lorenzo Scott brought in Jeff Corsaletti for a 6-3 score. Ryan Curry then hit a line drive to right field that was dropped by Anderson, allowing Kyle Skipworth and Scott to score for a 6-5 game.
Jacksonville took the lead for good in the eighth inning. Lee Mitchell singled before Kevin Mattison replaced him as a pinch-runner. Corsaletti then singled before Jason Delaney belted a double to deep left-centerfield to open a 7-6 Suns lead.
