
Bonilla Plays All Nine Positions In Jaxx Win

JACKSON, TENN. (September 6, 2010) - Leury Bonilla had played all nine positions this season, but not in one game. Leury played all nine positions in Monday's season finale at Pringles Park. The Diamond Jaxx (73-66) beat Chattanooga, 8-0. Bonilla finished the game on the mound by working a scoreless ninth inning. The Jaxx ended the regular season on a five-game winning streak and will begin postseason play on Thursday night against Tennessee.
Leury Bonilla hit a homerun and was 1-for-3 with two RBI's on Monday. Nick Franklin had two hits in his Diamond Jaxx debut along with Alex Liddi. The Jaxx scored their eight runs on nine hits. Elian Herrera and Pedro Baez led Chattanooga with two hits each.
Jimmy Gillheeney (1-2) tossed three perfect innings before giving up his first hit on Monday. Gillheeney worked six scoreless frames and allowed just three hits in his first Double-A victory. David Pfeiffer (7-5) suffered the loss for the Lookouts and surrendered seven runs on eight hits in five innings.
Carlos Peguero belted a 3-run homerun in the first inning to get the Jaxx on the board, 3-0. Leury Bonilla followed with a solo shot to left. Peguero's 23rd homer and Bonilla's 7th gave the Jaxx an early 4-0 advantage.
The Jaxx scored three more runs in the second and went ahead 7-0. Brandon Bantz hit his first homerun of the season. Alex Liddi and Nate Tenbrink each had RBI singles in the inning for West Tenn.
The Jaxx added another run in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly to center from Leury Bonilla. The Jaxx went ahead and won 8-0.
The playoffs will begin in Kodak, TN on Thursday night at 6:15 CDT at Smokies Park. Game two of the Division Series is also at Smokies Park on Friday. Luis Munoz (7-6, 3.88) makes the game one start for the Diamond Jaxx The Division Series is a best of five series with game's four and five if necessary being back at Smokies Park on Sunday and Monday. The Jaxx will host game three.
Fans can purchase playoff tickets at the Pringles Park box office, or by calling 988-JAXX. Season ticket holders may pick up their playoff tickets at anytime between now and next Saturday's game. The Jaxx will host game three of the Division Series on Saturday, September 11th, at Pringles Park, with first pitch at 5:05.
