Montgomery Biscuits News Release

JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Biscuits (72-66) twice built four-run leads, but the Jacksonville Suns (81-59) rallied from behind and the Biscuits season came to an end with a 7-6 defeat on Monday at the Baseball Grounds.

The comeback was capped by the Suns against Rayner Oliveros (2-7) in the eighth inning when Jason Delaney doubled to left-center to score Lee Mitchell and Jeff Corsaletti. The Biscuits would go down in order in the ninth, with Todd Doolittle (2) securing the save.

Drew Anderson hit his second home run of the series in the second inning to put Montgomery in front 4-0. After the Suns cut it in half in the third, Henry Wrigley went deep to left to extend the lead back to 6-2.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Suns used poor defense to climb even closer. A Lorenzo Scott two-out single made it 6-3, and with runners and first and second, a liner to left off the bat of Ryan Curry was dropped by Anderson, allowing both runners to score and setting the stage for the eighth inning rally.

David Newmann came off the DL to make the start for the Biscuits and allowed only one hit over a pair of shutout innings. The Suns got five runs against Josh Satow (two were unearned). Jacksonville's Sandy Rosario (1-0) pitched two perfect innings and struck out three to get the win.

John Matulia led the Biscuits attack by going 2-5.

The 2010 Biscuits finish with the third best record in the franchise's seven year history, and the best for a non-playoff team.

The Southern League Playoffs begin on Thursday, with Jacksonville hosting Mobile for the South Division Championship Series and Tennessee hosting West Tenn for the North Division Championship Series.
