Jaxx Add First Round Pick Franklin, Mendez To Inactive List

JACKSON, TENN. (September 6, 2010) - The Seattle Mariners announced the following roster moves that affects the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx roster. The moves are made prior to today's 2:05 regular season finale against the Chattanooga Lookouts.

SUMMARY:

. SS Nick Franklin activated from Low-A Clinton

. OF Maximo Mendez placed on the inactive list

Franklin (19), was a first round selection by the Mariners in the 2009 draft (27th overall pick). Season with Clinton:'10 w/CLI: 129 G .281 AVG, 22 2B, 7 3B, 23 HR, 65 RBI, 249 TB, 25 SB, .351 OBP. He hit his 23rd home run this season in Clinton's 6-4 loss to Burlington (Iowa) on 9/5, breaking the LumberKings' 49-year-old single-season record. He was the first player in the minors this season to amass 20 home runs, 20 stolen bases and 20 doubles. MWL Mid-Season and Post-Season All-Star...Franklin graduated from Lake Brantley (FL) High School in June, 2009.selected by the Orlando Sentinel Baseball Player of the Year.member of the 2007 and 2008 USA Baseball Youth National Team that played in Venezuela and Canada...Began pro career with Peoria, appearing in 10 games.hit .067 (1x15) in first 4 games, but rebounded to hit .429 over final 6 games (12x28, 4 R, 2 2B, HR, 4 RBI).promoted to Everett on Sept. 1.hit safely in 5 of 6 games with an at-bat with 3 multi-hit games.

Mendez (23), played in four games for the Jaxx and hit .250 with one RBI and was 2-for-8 in those four games. Mendez is placed on the inactive list for the Diamond Jaxx.
