
Suns Outlast Intimidators 6-5

Hagerstown, MD - Playing in 40 degree weather the Suns stayed just one step in front of the Intimidators all night â outlasting the I's 6-5. Hagerstown got things started with a couple of early blasts off of Intimidators starter Adam Russell. Ambiorix Concepcion drove a two run homer over the 22-foot wall in left center field to give the Suns a 2-0 lead after two. Then Mike Carp went yard to right for a two run bomb in the third. Kannapolis responded with a pair of runs in the fifth cutting the lead to 4-2. But Hagerstown added a single run in the sixth making it 5-2. The I's got two more in the seventh on a Francisco Hernandez two RBI single cutting the lead to just one at 5-4. But Hagerstown got one more in the bottom of the seventh extending to a 6-4 lead. Sean Smith came in to score on a wild pitch in the eighth, but Kannapolis left the tying run at third.
Jose Sanchez (5-0) took the win. He's now perfect on the season in five starts. Russell's loss pushes him to 0-3. Carlos Muniz tied for the league lead with his sixth save of the season.
