Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

Hagerstown, MD - Playing in 40 degree weather the Suns stayed just one step in front of the Intimidators all night – outlasting the I's 6-5. Hagerstown got things started with a couple of early blasts off of Intimidators starter Adam Russell. Ambiorix Concepcion drove a two run homer over the 22-foot wall in left center field to give the Suns a 2-0 lead after two. Then Mike Carp went yard to right for a two run bomb in the third. Kannapolis responded with a pair of runs in the fifth cutting the lead to 4-2. But Hagerstown added a single run in the sixth making it 5-2. The I's got two more in the seventh on a Francisco Hernandez two RBI single cutting the lead to just one at 5-4. But Hagerstown got one more in the bottom of the seventh extending to a 6-4 lead. Sean Smith came in to score on a wild pitch in the eighth, but Kannapolis left the tying run at third.

Jose Sanchez (5-0) took the win. He's now perfect on the season in five starts. Russell's loss pushes him to 0-3. Carlos Muniz tied for the league lead with his sixth save of the season.

The I's and Suns will meet again early tomorrow morning for an education day start at 10:35 am. All the Intimidators action this season can be heard at www.intimidatorsbaseball.com.
