GREENVILLE, SC - Greenville's hottest pitcher was given a rude greeting by Augusta's Marcus Sanders on Monday night. Andrew Dobies, who had won three straight starts, yielded a home run to Sanders on the second pitch of the night as the Greenjackets went on to beat the Bombers, 5-3 at Municipal Stadium. Sanders added an RBI double in the sixth inning to chase Dobies (3-1), who allowed five runs on 11 hits over five and one-third frames.

Augusta starter Darren Sack (1-1) notched his first win of the year. The righthander fired five solid innings, giving up two runs on four hits. Reliever Adam Gardner followed with three hitless, scoreless frames and righthander Brian Wilson earned his sixth save of the season by working out of a ninth-inning jam.

After Sanders gave the Jackets a 1-0 lead in the first, Augusta added an unearned run off Dobies in the second inning on Nick Conte's RBI single to make it 2-0. Greenville countered with a run in the third on Andrew Pinckeny's run-scoring fielder's choice grounder to cut the deficit to 2-1.

However, Augusta used a two-run fifth inning to widen their lead. Jason Columbus' double, a Bomber error and an RBI single by Jon Armitage upped the margin to 4-1.

The Bombers, now losers of four of their last five games, trailed 5-2 going to the bottom of the ninth. Greenville put two runners aboard against Wilson, who then struck out Logan Sorensen and Mitch Stachowsky for the first two outs of the inning. Tony Grandillo followed with a ground single to left field scoring Chuck Jeroloman to make it 5-3. Wilson then punched out Matt Van Der Bosch on a called third strike to preserve the victory.

The clubs meet Tuesday at 7:05pm in the fourth and final game of the series. Lefthander Adam Blackley (1-2) will pitch for Greenville vs. Augusta righthander Mike Musgrave (1-1).
