Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

Lexington, KY:Armand Gaerlan tied it with a solo homer in the second, and Ambiorix Concepcion put it out of reach with a monster two-run blast in the sixth, and the Suns went on to win 7-4 on Saturday.

Kevin Mannix (3-5) was the benficiary of the run support, getting the win after hurling six strong innings, his longest outing of the year. Mannix gave up three runs in six innings, and is 2-1, 3.24ERA in his last five outings, three being starts. Joe Serfass was solid as usual, going the final three innings for his third save of the season, yielding just one run.

Going into the fourth inning, the game was tied, 2-2. That's when the Suns took control, scoring two in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two more in the sixth. Englebrook's own error on a sacrifice bunt in the fourth by Corey Coles put the Suns in the lead for good. Russ Triplett, who singled to start the inning, scored from second on the error. Carlos Gomez scored when Concepcion grounded out one batter later. Jim Burt added an RBI single in the fifth, scoring Kyle Brown all the way from firstbase, which made it 5-2, Suns.

Evan Englebrook (7-4) from Shippensburg University, 40 minutes north of Hagerstown, got smacked around pretty good, only lasting 4 2/3 innings in his fourth outing against the Suns this year. Englebrook took the loss after he gave up five runs, four earned, on seven hits, three walks. His record is 0-1, 6.75ERA versus Hagerstown.

Sunday at 6pm, the Suns play game two of four in Lexington, with Jim Barthmaier (8-5) going against the Suns' Matt Durkin (2-3). Durkin is making his first start since returning from a month and a half spent on the DL. Durkin was forced back into the rotation after only one rehab start in the Gulf Coast League, when LHP Joe Williams, who was slated to start, was placed on the DL with a sore arm.
