MOBILE, Ala. - Todd Donovan made a headlong diving catch, potentially saving two runs from scoring in the seventh inning in the Suns' 5-3 victory over the Mobile BayBears in front of 4,593 fans Sunday at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Tony Abreu had two hits and two RBI, including a go-ahead run-scoring double in third inning, giving the Suns a 3-2 lead they would not relinquish. It backed starter Joel Hanrahan (7-7) who pitched five innings, allowing two second inning runs en route to earning the win.
Justin Ruggiano hit a long home run to left field to lead off the fourth inning. The Suns did not have any hits swinging away after Ruggiano's home run in the fourth inning. Ruggiano's bunt hit in the sixth was the only instance.
Hong-chih Kuo pitched on one day of rest for the second consecutive outing, finishing the seventh and completing the eighth. He entered in the midst of an inning for the first time this season and stranded two runners, courtesy of Donovan's catch.
Beltran Perez followed Kuo and pitched a perfect ninth to earn his third save, his second in as many nights.
