Diamond Jaxx shut out Lookouts 3-0

Chattanooga, TN- The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx won the rubber game of the three game series from Bell South Park, shutting the Chattanooga Lookouts 3-0.

Ricky Nolasco (11-2) pitched seven shutout innings, dancing in and out of trouble throughout much of the afternoon. Nolasco gave up eight hits in his seven innings on the mound. He struck out six batters and didn't issue a walk. Thomas Atlee pitched a perfect eighth inning while Andy Shipman came on to register his ninth save of the season. The Jaxx defense turned three double plays in the ballgame, including one in the ninth inning.

The Diamond Jaxx scored two runs off losing pitcher Travis Chick (0-1) in the fourth inning. Dwaine Bacon led off the inning with a double, moved to third on a groundout and scored on a Casey McGehee sacrifice fly to left, giving the Diamond Jaxx a 1-0 lead. Brandon Sing came up and slugged his 24th home run of the season, a smash over the left part of the scoreboard in deep left field, extending the lead to 2-0. Sing is now one homer away from tying the all-time Diamond Jaxx home run record held by Chris Haas. The Diamond Jaxx made it 3-0 in the seventh inning when McGehee scored on a two out single by Buck Coats.

The Diamond Jaxx ten game roadtrip continues as the Jaxx open up a three game series with the Carolina Mudcats at 6:15 p.m. CDT on Monday night from Five County Stadium in Zebulon, NC. Right-hander Carlos Marmol (3-2 2.98) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Carolina will counter with righty Josh Johnson (9-4 4.64).
