Hagerstown Suns News Release
Despite significant rain and flooding over the past 3 days, Municipal Stadium is now dry and ready for game action. The Hagerstown Suns front office staff and grounds crew have been working feverously over the past 24 hours ensuring that the ballpark's back to normal and ready for this evening's game versus the Delmarva Shorebirds. This evening's game begins at 7:05pm.
Yesterday afternoon, the stadium's field was flooded with over three feet of water in many locations including right field, both dugouts and portions of the ballpark concourse. The Suns offices, the KidsZone, both home and visiting clubhouses and many concessions stands also had standing water. Yesterday's flood was the second in nearly as many days for Municipal Stadium as the same areas were also flooded early Monday morning.
With today's sun and wind, along with many hard hours of work, the ballpark is again operational and ready for the upcoming homestand. The Suns play 6 games in 5 days beginning tonight including two fireworks shows (one of which is 3-D!), two bobblehead giveaways, a Thirsty Thursday and all of the other Suns popular daily promotions.
Tri-State area citizens might find Municipal Stadium a popular location for viewing Independence weekend fireworks shows as fans can view them from the dry stadium seats as opposed to the wet and muddy conditions of lawn areas at other fireworks locations this weekend.
