Pitcher of the Week
Daniel Griffin - Augusta GreenJackets
Daniel Griffin earned BC® Powder South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week honors by pitching a four- hitter for Augusta on Friday, June 23 against the Greensboro Grasshoppers. The 6-foot-7 right-hander allowed four hits, walked only one and struck out seven in the seven-inning game to improve his record to 5-4. Griffin did not need relief as he went on to pitch all seven-innings. This season Griffin has thrown a 3.65 ERA, striking out 71 batters faced in 66.2 innings of work.
Batter of the Week
Ned Yost - West Virginia Power Ned Yost earned BC® Powder South Atlantic League Batter of the Week honors by delivering a walk off Grand Slam on Saturday night at Appalachian Power Park, capping off a 5-2 come from behind Power victory over the Kannapolis Intimidators. Yost went 6 for 13 in the series with eight runs batted in, a triple and two runs scored. The night before he hit the walk off Grand Slam, Yost came a homerun away from the cycle going 3 for 6 in the game with two runs batted in. Yost smacked two triples in the series and he is the team leader in three baggers with four on the year. Yost is a second year player from the Universtiy of Wisconsin Oshkosh.
