
Suns Finish 2011 Season with 8-4 Win

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns (33-37, 70-70) finished the 2011 season with an 8-4 victory over the Jackson Generals (30-40, 68-72) in front of 4,655 fans at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville on Monday afternoon.
Jacksonville starter Graham Taylor (3-5) earned the victory in his return from the disabled list. Taylor pitched five innings allowing two runs on six hits with no walks and two strikeouts. Jackson starter Yoervis Medina (0-1) took the loss.
The Suns scored eight runs on eleven hits in the victory. Six different Suns collected runs batted in, while Paul Gran and Ryan Curry both homered. After Jacksonville took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, the Suns would not trail in the ballgame. Ben Lasater also collected a multi-hit game, going 3-4 and he drove in two runs on a double in the fifth inning.
Dallas Trahern pitched three innings in relief, allowing just two runs on four hits. Jhan Marinez finished the season with a perfect top of the ninth, as Brandon Haveman flew out to centerfielder Jake Smolinski to end the season in a Jacksonville win.
The Suns finish the season with an even record of 70-70, and Jacksonville has not had a losing season in the three years affiliated with the Florida Marlins.
