Charleston, SC - The Hagerstown Suns (67-49/25-22) were edged, 4-3, by the Charleston RiverDogs (61-53/22-25) at Joseph P. Riley Park on Thursday night.
Starter Blake Schwartz (1-1) suffered the loss allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits, three walks and three strike outs. Matt Skole singled and knocked in his fourth RBI of the series, 91st of the season.
RiverDogs' starting pitcher Corey Black (1-0) earned the win in his team debut, allowing two runs in six innings to go along with five strike outs. Reliever Nick Goody (4) earned the save pitching a perfect ninth inning. First baseman Saxon Butler went 2-for-4 with a two-run double to lead the RiverDogs offense.
The Suns and RiverDogs will play game three of the series on Friday evening at 7:05 p.m. when the Suns will have LHP Bobby Hansen, Jr. (2-4, 4.91) on the mound against the RiverDogs RHP Brett Gerritse (4-5, 3.89).
