(Hagerstown, MD) Hagerstown pounded out 24 hits in a 15-3 drubbing of Asheville on Sunday afternoon. The Suns put up five runs in the sixth and six more runs in the seventh for the win. Each Suns player had at least two hits and Derek Norris had three hits with two RBI and Tyler Moore finished with three hits including a homerun and five driven in. Asheville (42-50, 16-7) will finish their road trip on Monday with Dan Houston on the mound.
Alan DeRatt (1-2) was the unfortunate pitcher on the mound for the Suns five run sixth inning. After back to back bunt hits to begin the inning, Steve Lombardozzi walked on a close 3-2 pitch to load the bases. Norris then hit a single to tie the game and the Suns continued to attack with five hits in the inning.
Tyler Massey delivered a two-run single in the second inning to give Asheville a 3-1 lead. Juan Nicasio was pulled with a 3-2 lead for Asheville after working four shaky innings. Nicasio allowed just one earned run on seven hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
The Tourists are 5-2 on their eight game road trip and will finish on Monday with Dan Houston (5-6, 4.07 ERA on the mound. All the action can be heard on WRES FM 100.7 or online at www.theashevilletourists.com
