Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Miami Marlins announced a series of transactions that impact their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's series opener with the Huntsville Stars at Bragan Field.

Infielder Zack Cox has been placed on the Disabled List retroactive to June 17 with a left calf strain. In 41 contests for the Suns this season, Cox has accumulated a .291 average (39-134), adding ten RBI.

In a corresponding move, right-handed starter Anthony DeSclafani has been transferred from High-A Jupiter to Jacksonville. In 12 starts for the Hammerheads, the 23-year-old compiled a 4-2 record and 1.67 ERA (10 ER in 54.0 IP), ranking second in the Florida State League in earned-run average and fourth in WHIP (1.06).

DeSclafani pitched for three seasons at the University of Florida from 2009-11, recording a 13-9 mark and 5.36 ERA (89 ER in 149.1 IP) in 68 career appearances (19 starts) with the Gators. The New Jersey native was acquired by the Marlins organization from the Toronto Blue Jays on November 22, 2012, in a deal that also sent current Suns outfielder Jake Marisnick to Miami. DeSclafani was selected in the sixth round of the 2011 draft by the Blue Jays.

The Suns roster stands at 25, and a revised roster is attached.
