Generals Add Morla and Taylor from A+ High Desert

Jackson, Tenn - The Seattle Mariners made the following roster moves Wednesday that affects the Jackson Generals roster. Infielder's Chris Taylor and Ramon Morla have been added to the Generals roster from A+ High Desert. Additionally, RHP Moises Hernandez has been placed on the 7-day DL and infielder Leury Bonilla has been promoted to AAA Tacoma.

MORLA, 23, played in 45 games with A+ High Desert this season batting .303, with 17 doubles, 10 home runs and 33 RBI in 175 at-bats. Morla has been in the Mariners' organization for the past 7 years, this being his first appearance at the AA level. The Dominican Republic-native was signed as a non-drafted free agent in July 2006. Morla is rated by Baseball America as the No. 29 prospect in the Seattle Mariners' organization.

TAYLOR , 22, played in 67 games this season with A+ High Desert batting .335, with 16 doubles, 7 home runs, 44 RBI and 20 stolen bases. Taylor was a 2013 California League All-Star. He has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games for the Mavericks, batting .377 (20x53) with 13 runs scored, 1 double, 3 triples, 1 home run, 7 RBI and 5 walks. Taylor's 90 hits this season currently rank T6th-most amongst all minor leaguers. Taylor was drafted in the 5th round of the 2012 draft from the University of Virginia and becomes the third UVA alum on the current Generals roster (INF Steven Proscia, C John Hicks). Taylor was born in Virginia Beach, VA on August 29, 1990 where he also resides. Taylor is the second member of the 2012 draft to reach AA. In 2012, Taylor split time between A- Everett and A Clinton. He batted .322, with 12 doubles and stole 17 bases in 49 games between the two teams. Taylor is rated by Baseball America as the No. 28 prospect in the Seattle Mariners' organization.

BONILLA, 28, has played in 33 games for the Generals this season batting .235 with 11 RBI. This is Bonilla's 2nd stint with Tacoma this season having already appeared in 7 games for the Rainiers batting .409 with 2 RBI. Bonilla is a native of Gaspar Hernandez, DR and was resigned by the Mariners this past offseason.

Jackson's roster currently is at 25 players, with 3 on the disabled list.
