In game one, the Suns and Barons needed extra innings before Brady Shoemaker made his former team pay with a walk-off single, assuring the Suns of a 2-1 win in nine innings.

Jay Rogers did not factor into the decision after giving up a lone run (earned) on six hits, while walking a batter and striking out two Barons in five innings of work.

Greg Nappo struck out three batters over 1.2 scoreless innings of work, giving up two hits to the Barons along the way.

Nick Wittgren (W, 4-4) earned the win after tossing 2.1 hitless innings, striking out three batters in his winning outing.

Mike Recchia was not involved in the decision despite allowing one run (earned) on two hits in seven innings and setting a new season-high with eight strikeouts to just one walk.

Kevin Vance (L, 5-3) took the loss for Birmingham, coughing up one run (earned) on one hit, while walking and striking out a batter each in 1.1 innings.

Birmingham opened up the scoring with a run in the top of the third inning, with the Barons taking a 1-0 lead when Chris Curley came down to score on Trayce Thompson's RBI groundout.

The Suns answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie up the ballgame. Austin Barnes came all the way around from first on Brady Shoemaker's RBI double into the right-center field gap, leveling the ballgame at 1-1 after four innings of play.

The game remained tied at 1-1 until Brady Shoemaker helped the Suns walk off by a 2-1 final against his former team, with Austin Nola scoring on Shoemaker's game-winning RBI single.

In game two, the Barons rallied to score three unearned runs in the top of the seventh inning to stun the Suns and split the doubleheader, with the Barons emerging with a 3-2 win in game two.

Bryan Blough (W, 2-1) collected the win by throwing two scoreless innings of relief for the Barons, allowing two hits and a walk while struck out one Suns batter.

Nestor Molina (SV, 3) nailed down the save after tossing a scoreless top of the ninth inning, striking out two batters while giving up one walk and one hit.

James Nygren would not factor into the decision but put forth an excellent outing, tossing four shutout innings, only surrendering three hits while not walking a single.

Steve Ames looked untouchable in his two hitless innings of work, retiring all six hitters he faced while striking out one Baron.

Matt Ramsey (BS, 1; L, 0-1) blew the save and took the loss for Jacksonville after allowing three unearned runs on one hit while walking a batter and striking out two Barons in his one inning.

The Suns got the scoring going with a run in the bottom of the second inning, taking the early 1-0 lead on a two-out opposite field RBI single off the bat of Wilfredo Gimenez.

Jacksonville furthered their lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning, when Brady Shoemaker came down to score on Joe Benson's RBI single.

But the Barons would take a 3-2 by scoring three unearned runs in the top of the seventh inning. Birmingham scored individual runs on a Matt Ramsey throwing error, a Matt Ramsey wild pitch and a Jeremy Farrell sacrifice fly to take the lead through six and a half innings of play.

The Suns and Barons will be back at it on Wednesday afternoon, with first pitch of game one set for 1:05 p.m. ET. The Suns will send out right-hander Robert Morey (1-1, 4.56) while the Barons will counter with a righty of their own in former Jacksonville Sun Angel Sanchez (1-9, 6.42).
