
Suns Hit Three Homers in 9-4 Win over Barons

Birmingham, AL - The Jacksonville Suns hit three home runs Wednesday afternoon in a 9-4 win over the Birmingham Barons in front of 2,882 fans at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
The Suns jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run double by J.T. Realmuto scoring Austin Nola and Austin Barnes After a Luis Sierra RBI single cut the lead to 2-1 in the second inning, the Sunsscored five unanswered runs including four in the fourth highlighted by homers from Barnes and Ryan Rieger as the Suns built a 7-1 lead. Realmuto added an RBI single in the fourth and finished with three in the game. All seven runs were scored against Barons starter Angel Sanchez (1-10, 6.56) but only four of them were earned. The former Sun allowed eight hits over 4.0 IP before being replaced by David Cales in the fifth inning.
An RBI single by Jared Mitchell and a two-run single by Rangel Ravelo cut the Suns' lead to 7-4 in the fifth but a solo home run by Alex Burg extended the lead to 8-4 in the bottom half of the inning.
Suns starter Robert Morey (2-1, 4.85) picked up the win allowing four runs on nine hits over 6.0 IP. Jheyson Manzuea allowed just one hit over three scorelessinnings while picking up his second save of the season.
With the loss, the Barons fell to 17-15 in the second half and 46-56 overall while Jacksonville improved to 56-47 and 20-13 in the second half. The Barons will look to capture a series victory tomorrow night as RHP Chris Beck (5-8, 3.61) takes the hill against LHP Justin Nicolino (8-3, 3.12). First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM CDT.
