Arizona Sundogs News Release

The Arizona Sundogs (2-4-0) dropped a pair of home contests to the visiting Texas Brahmas last weekend.

On Friday, Arizona fell 5-3 to the Brahmas despite a pair of power-play goals by CHL rookie scoring leader Jason Williams and 38 saves by netminder Doug Groenestege. The Sundogs hadn't allowed a third-period goal in four games coming into the contest before giving up three to Texas in the loss.

The Sundogs dropped Saturday's game by the same 5-3 score. Texas collected a pair of goals in the opening period, in what would proved to be the difference as the two teams traded goals through the second and third periods.

Arizona opens its season-long eight-game road trip beginning this Friday, Nov. 5 against the Wichita Thunder at 5:05pm (Arizona time).

Sundogs Storylines:

- Veteran defenseman and team captain Tyler Butler is riding a four-game point streak, collecting five points (2g/3a) over that span.

- Billy Bezeau and Cam Keith each own a two-game assist streak, each having tallied a pair of assists in as many games.

- Recently re-acquired forward Karl Sellan is averaging a point per game since re-joining his former club, netting an assist in Friday's 5-3 loss and a goal in Saturday's 5-3 setback.

- Arizona embarks on a season-long eight-game road trip that will see them visit the Wichita Thunder (Nov. 5), Texas Brahmas (Nov. 6), Evansville IceMen (Nov. 11), Dayton Gems (Nov. 12), Quad City Mallards (Nov. 13), Bloomington PrairieThunder (Nov. 17 and 21) and Fort Wayne Komets (Nov. 19).

- The Sundogs had yet to give up a third-period goal before allowing three in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Brahmas. Despite the setback, Arizona has still given up just four third-period goals, second fewest in the CHL.

- Arizona leads the league in minor penalties (53).

- Rookie forward Jason Williams leads the Sundogs and all CHL rookies with seven points. His four goals, three assists and three power-play goals are all tops in the CHL among first-year players.

- Goaltender Doug Groenestege ranks fifth in the CHL in save percentage (.931) and seventh among netminders in goals against average (2.32).

- Arizona is 2-1-0 in Friday night contests but winless in Saturday night games.

- The Sundogs have yet to win a game this season when scoring three goals.

- Marc-Andre Labelle tallied an assist in his pro debut on Oct. 30 (5-3 loss to Texas).
