Friday vs. Bloomington...first meeting of 10 this year, and the first of five in Fort Wayne. Fort Wayne was 9-2-1 overall in 12 meetings last season against the PrairieThunder after finishing 2009-10 riding an eight-game undefeated streak against Bloomington (7-0-1). The Komets lead the all-time series with Bloomington 31-16-5. The PrairieThunder (4-1-0) posted a four-game win string to start the season before dropping a 4-2 affair at Dayton Saturday for their first loss of the year. Bloomington is off this week until they travel to Fort Wayne Friday.
Saturday vs. Evansville...first ever meeting between the Komets and IceMen. The Komets and Evansville will meet 11 times during the IceMen's debut season. Saturday's match will be the first of seven in Fort Wayne. Evansville (2-3-1) has jumped out to a .417 start with a record of 2-3-1 after six games. The IceMen are winless in their last three outings (0-2-1). Evansville hosts Quad City Friday before visiting Fort Wayne Saturday.
November has arrived...the Komets will skate 10 games during the month, six at home and four on the road. November is highlighted with the annual Fort Wayne Thanksgiving night game on Nov. 25. vs Quad City. It'll be the 49th consecutive Thanksgiving game in Fort Wayne (30-14-4). The Komets will play each of their two Thursday night games of the season during November. Besides Thanksgiving in Fort Wayne, the K's also skate at Dayton Thursday, Nov. 11.
About last week.....in their only game played for week three of the 2010-11 campaign, the Komets were doubled-up at Quad City last Friday night 4-2. The Komets have played four games (1-2-1), the fewest number of games for a CHL team to start the season in the first three weeks of play. Centers Mathieu Curadeau and Leo Thomas each scored their first goals of the season Friday. Thomas' goal, at 2:54 of the third period, was the first Fort Wayne even strength goal of the season and it was scored just one second after a Komet power play had ended. Veteran defenseman Guy Dupuis earned an assist on Curadeau's tally and has a three-game point-scoring streak (1g, 2a). The helper was Dupuis' 391st Fort Wayne career assist, pulling Dupuis to within 11 assists of tying Lionel Repka for the all-time mark of 402 assists in regular season play by a Fort Wayne defenseman.
