Quad City Mallards News Release

QUACK TRACKS

Streakers

The Mallards have won their last three games after losing their first three. The Mallards won more than three in a row only once all of last season.

Red Light District The Mallards scored a season high four goals in last Friday's win over Fort Wayne. The Flock averages 2.5 goals per game, tied for fourteenth in the Central Hockey League.

Shut Down The Mallards have allowed a total of just five goals in three games since surrendering a season-high six goals on October 23 against Evansville.

Road Warriors The Mallards last Friday night won on the road for the first time this season. The Flock had dropped its first two away games of the season.

Komets Krash The Mallards last Friday grabbed the win in their first meeting of the season with Fort Wayne. The Flock last year won in regulation just once in 15 International Hockey League clashes with the Komets.

Working Overtime

Last Saturday's game in Evansville was the Mallards' first overtime contest of the season. Quad City overcame the IceMen in sudden death after going 0-4 in games settled in overtime (without need of a shootout) last season.

Pear-less

Right wing Zac Pearson rang up five points (three goals and two assists) last weekend and is now tied for the league lead in goals (seven) and is tied for sixth in points (ten). Pearson scored two goals- including Quad City's first shorthanded goal of the season- and added an assist last Friday against Fort Wayne and had one goal and one assist the following evening in Evansville. Pearson has scored in five straight games and recorded at least one point in each of his first six outings.

Brown Out

Goaltender David Brown is riding a personal three game winning streak during which he has surrendered just five goals, posted a 1.66 goals against average and a .951 save percentage. On the season Brown is tied for the league lead in save percentage (.942) and ranks second in goals against average (1.85). Brown made a team single game season high 35 saves last Friday against Fort Wayne.

Top Trio

Linemates Zac Pearson (7-3-10), Eric Giosa (2-4-6) and Patrik Levesque (1-4-5) are the Mallards' top three point scorers. Members of that trio have provided ten of the 15 goals scored by the Mallards this season.

Between the Pipes Former Port Huron Icehawk goaltender Adam Russo signed with the Mallards last week after the team waived netminder Michel Robinson. Russo arrived in the Quad Cities after last Friday's game against Fort Wayne had started. Justin Grant served as backup to David Brown during that contest after signing a five-game contract with the Mallards. Grant was waived yesterday.

Century Mark

Right wing Tyler Shelast played in his one hundredth professional game last Friday against Fort Wayne.

Firsts

Tyler Townsend picked up his first point as a Mallard by assisting on Zac Pearson's shorthanded goal last Friday against Fort Wayne. One night later Townsend scored his first Mallard goal to tie the Flock's game with Evansville at two with 2:11 left in regulation. Ryan Palmer scored his first goal as a Mallard and the sixth goal of his career last Friday. That goal was Palmer's first since he scored against Quad City while playing for Muskegon on November 7 of last year.

Ins and Outs

Center Mark Ehl returned to the lineup last Friday after missing three games while on injured reserve due to a thigh injury. Left Wing Phil Axtell was placed on ten-day I.R. with a broken nose last week.

The IceMen Cometh (Again) The Mallards on Friday night will meet the Evansville IceMen for the fourth time in the Flock's first seven games. The Mallards won two of the first three matchups between the two teams. The two clubs split their first two meetings at Evansville's Swonder Ice Arena.

In Bloom

The PrairieThunder was the last team in the CHL to suffer a loss this season. The Dayton Gems won 4-2 in Bloomington last Saturday to snap the Thunder's season-opening four game winning streak. This Saturday night's game is the first of 11 this season between the Mallards and PrairieThunder. The intrastate rivals met 17 times in the International Hockey League last season; the Flock won ten of those tilts.
