
Sundogs Hand Americans Fifth Straigh Home Loss

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans dropped their fifth straight home game on Friday night, as they fall to Arizona by a 2-1 score at Allen Event Center.
The Allen Americans opened the scoring in the first, when Jamie Schaafsma scored on a wrap-around in front of the net to give Allen a 1-0 lead, Brian McMillin had the only assist. Allen outshot Arizona by a count of 11-9 after one period.
The Sundogs evened the score in the second when Ron Meyers fired a wrister past Steve Silverthorn from the right side of the ice, to make it a 1-1 game. Arizona held Allen without a shot in that second period, outshooting the Americans 9-0.
Kevin Petovello broke the tie in the third when he put one past Steve Silverthorn from in front of the Allen net, to make it 2-1 Arizona. The Americans spent the last 1:42 killing off an Arizona power play, as Allen Captain Jason Deitsch was sent to the box for spearing at the 18:42 mark. The Americans pulled the goalie late in the third, but were unable to pick up the tying goal as Arizona handed Allen its fifth straight home loss 2-1.
The Americans made the announcement after the game that forward Kip Brennan was traded to Arizona for future considerations. Brennan played in 30 games for Allen this season and had six points.
