
Sundogs Win Three of Four Games Against Allen Americans

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs pickup their third win in the last four games against the Allen Americans Friday night at the Allen Event Center, final score 2-1.
The Allen Americans took the early lead against the Arizona Sundogs with a goal from Jamie Schaafsma seconds after Smyth's penalty expired for tripping. Three minutes later the Americans would go back on the power play when Sundogs netminder David Brown was called for high sticking after his stick caught Darryl Bootland .
There were eight penalty offenses issued in the second period including, one game misconduct for the Americans. Three minutes in and Arizona's Smyth and Allen's Alex Penner dropped their gloves and were each accessed a five minute fighting major. The American's Ryley Grantham received a 10 minute game misconduct for boarding after leveling Sundogs' Matt McCready to the ice. Cody Purves answered back immediately throwing hits on Grantham. Purves received a five minute fighting major while Grantham collected 30 minutes on four different offenses. Ron Meyers was able to tie the game at 8:31 into the second period with a shot from the center. Derek LeBlanc and Matt Register were credited with the assists.
Less than five minutes in the final frame and Arizona's Kevin Petovello tallies the game winning goal pushing the Sundogs to a 2-1 lead. Meyers and Register both collect their second point of the night after being credited with assists. The Americans would collect two more game misconducts in the third period, after Jason Deitsch was handed a 10 minute misconduct for spearing and Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson was issued a misconduct for abuse of officials.
Allen would finish out the night with nine penalties including three game misconducts and 52 penalty minutes. Arizona skated away with 6 penalties and 18 penalty minutes. Brown took the win for the Sundogs tonight with 16 saves. Arizona outshot Allen 25-17. Arizona was 0-3 on the power play and Allen was 0-4 on the power play. The Sundogs continue their 12 day road trip when they play again tomorrow night against the Fort Worth Brahmas.
