Three Things You Need to Know

1.) Torrie Time in Wichita- The Wichita Thunder relied heavily on Kevin Regan during the first half of the season and were rewarded with the goalie posting a 13-10-3 record and a 2.40 GAA (fourth in the CHL) but lately it has been Torrie Jung who has been carrying the hot hand starting five straight games and winning them all while allowing just nine goals). On the season, the Nanaimo, British Columbia native is 13-4-0 with the fifth best GAA in the league at 2.43. Playing with the Laredo Bucks over the past two seasons, Jung's wins totaled 31 with his best season coming in the 2010-11 campaign where he went 17-18-3. Jung is still unbeaten on home ice going 6-0 with two shutouts and a 1.50 GAA and .950 save percentage. His strong month of January, 6-1 with a 1.86 GAA, earned him the Warrior CHL Goaltender of the Month award.

2.) At Long Last, Denver Heads Home- After the league's longest road trip in the 2013-14 season, the Denver Cutthroats (21-17-5) finally head home to host the Bloomington Blaze (22-17-2) on Friday and Saturday nights, their first home games since December 29. The Cutthroats return home four games above .500 after going 3-6-3 during their journey. They remain in the top half of the league standings sitting in fourth place with 47 points (one more than both Bloomington and Missouri). A.J. Gale was the hot hand offensively on the road trip with eight goals and 10 assists in the 12 games. The forward now has 58 points (26-32=58) and is just one point behind Missouri's Sebastien Thinel (59 points) for the league-lead in scoring. The Fish's rookie net minders (Kent Patterson and Kieran Millan) struggled on their January journey combining for a 4.07 GAA and a .891 save percentage.

3.) Flock Returns with a Bang- The Quad City Mallards (18-18-5) climbed back to .500 on the season thanks to an 8-2 victory over the Bloomington Blaze (22-17-2) on Tuesday night. The eight goals eclipsed the Mallards team high of seven scored on January 19 against Denver.
