PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - In their first of seven meetings during the 2007-08 season, the Arizona Sundogs and Rocky Mountain Rage faced off Saturday night at the Broomfield Event Center in Broomfield, Colorado.
Rocky Mountain opened up a 1-0 lead just 51 seconds into the contest as the Sundogs coughed up possession of the puck on their own blue line. Nathan Rosychuck grabbed the puck and out-maneuvered Arizona netminder Bill Zaniboni to find the back of the net. Clay Plume and Scott Wray collected assists on the early marker. The Rage found themselves up 2-0 late in the first period as Colt King tallied his second of the year on passes from Chip Dunleavy and Tyler Butler at the 18:10 mark. Olivier Latendresse also collected an assist on the power play goal. Less than four minutes later, the Sundogs pulled even at two goals apiece as Redenbach teamed up this time with defenseman Chris Bartolone to help Leavitt to his second tally of the night. At 14:32 of the second, the Rage grabbed its first two goal lead since leading 2-0 late in the first period as Trevor Weisgerber pushed home a rebound, notching his club's first goal with the man advantage. In a Sundogs-dominated third, Arizona pulled back to within one on their second power play goal of the game from Redenbach at 3:58 of the period. Veteran defenseman Dan Laperriere helped on the play along with Leavitt, his third point in the contest. The Sundogs evened the score at 4-4 with 7:53 to play in regulation as Latendresse grabbed his second point and first goal of the night off a David Schlemko wrist shot from the point. Dusty Collins tallied his first point on the night, also collecting a helper on the Latendresse equalizer. Scoring the third period's lone goals, Arizona would force a five-minute overtime session.
