Bucks Go For Fifth Straight Win Tonight

LAREDO, TX- The undefeated Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League will look to match their best start in team history and improve to 5-0 tonight when they host the Amarillo Gorillas at the LEC at 7:30pm. The Bucks best start in team history came in the 2003-04 season when they started 5-0.

The Bucks will be looking to sweep the season series against the Gorillas tonight, as Laredo won four days ago in Amarillo 6-0, with rookie goalie Kevin Beech picking up the shutout.

The Bucks have outscored their opponents this season 26-6, while posting back to back shutouts for the first time since January 27th & 28th ,2006 when they blanked the Rayz on back to back nights.

Laredo boasts six of the CHL's top 11 scorers, as reigning CHL player of the week James Hiebert (5 goals, 2 assists), Jeff Bes (1 goal, 6 assists), and Brent MacSween (5 goals, 2 assists) are tied for fifth with seven points apiece. Chris Korchinski (3 goals, 3 assists), Serge Dube, (1 goal, 5 assists), and David Walker (six assists) are all tied for 11th in the league in points with six. MacSween leads the league with four power-play goals, while Adam Rivet leads the league in goals scored by a defensman with three.

The Bucks also have the CHL's 2nd best power-play. Laredo has scored on nine-of 29 power plays this season (33%), while killing off 29-of-31 of their opponents power-plays.

Amarillo comes into tonight still looking for their first win of the season (0-3-1), and have lost three of their four games by one goal.

The Gorillas are led in scoring by David Nimmo, Chris Lipsett, and Chris Martini, all of whom have three points. Amarillo goaltender Dan McWhinney has seen the bulk of time in the net this season, going 0-2-1 with a 2.95 goals against average, and a .910 save percentage.

Tonight's game is the first of 10 event nights at the LEC this season, with tonight being Rotary night.
