Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, Tennessee - Sunday's "Battle of the Badges" softball game between the Shelby County Sheriff's Department and the Memphis Police Department, as well as that evening's Memphis Redbirds game against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Brewers), will be televised on WMC-TV's Bounce channel.
The softball game, played as part of that day's tribute to law enforcement during Mid-South Heroes Weekend presented by Ford, is scheduled to begin at 4:15 and run until 5:30. That night's Redbirds game, featuring postgame fireworks, is slated for a 6:35 first pitch. Ticketholders for the Redbirds game can enter AutoZone Park at 3:45 for the softball game and will be able to remain in the stadium between games.
The softball game will be hosted by WMC Sports Director Jarvis Greer and the Redbirds' Peter Fleischer. Greer will join Voice of the Redbirds Steve Selby as color commentator for that night's Redbirds game, with Fleischer providing in-game reports.
The Redbirds have a specialty ticket option available for Sunday that includes a ticket and a hamburger/hot dog buffet starting at $20. More information can be found at www.memphisredbirds.com/memorialday.
"We appreciate WMC's interest in televising the softball game, and then our game, this Sunday," Redbirds President/General Manager Craig Unger said. "We are happy to show our support of local law enforcement by hosting the softball game, and we thank WMC for sharing the air space so people all around Memphis can tune in. Sunday, as well as the entire Memorial Day Weekend, promises to be exciting in Downtown Memphis."
"We're thrilled to partner with the Redbirds this Memorial Day Weekend," WMC Action News 5 Vice President and General Manager Jonathan Mitchell said. "When presented the opportunity to not only honor our local first responders, but to also broadcast what we believe to be one of the premier family entertainment options in the Mid-South, Redbirds Baseball, we jumped at the idea."
Bounce can be found on WMC's digital channel 5-2. On Comcast, Bounce Memphis can be found on channel 906. For more information, visit www.wmcactionnews5.com.
