Fresno Grizzlies News Release
Tyler White extends on-base streak to 56 consecutive Triple-A games dating back to 2017 (45 in 2018); Brock Dykxhoorn (Triple-A debut) goes six innings, strikes out five
In the 16th and final meeting of the season, the Reno Aces (21-27) topped the Fresno Grizzlies (28-20) 4-3 in 10 innings Thursday night from Chukchansi Park. With the defeat, Fresno lost their third series in 11 matchups and finished 9-7 versus Reno in 2018. The loss also dropped the Grizzlies to 1-2 in extra innings, 5-7 in one-run games and 4-6 in the fourth game of the set.
Anthony Recker (2-for-4) gave the Aces a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth when he laced a single to left, plating Jack Reinheimer.
Fresno grabbed a 2-1 lead back in the bottom of the fourth from an Alejandro Garcia broken bat single to right and a sacrifice fly by Cody Bohanek. It was Bohanek's first Triple-A RBI.
In the top of the seventh, Reno regained a 3-2 advantage. A bomb to left by Recker knotted the game at two. Then, a single to center allowed Evan Marzilli to scamper home.
Drew Ferguson tied the game at three in the bottom of the seventh with a sacrifice fly to right.
Yasmany Tomas made it 4-3 Aces with a sacrifice fly to center in the top of the 10th.
The one-run affair was enough for Jake Barrett to shut the door. He picked up his second win of the season after two scoreless frames, striking out five.
Fresno closer James Hoyt (0-2) suffered the decision after allowing the go-ahead run. In his Triple-A debut, Brock Dykxhoorn went six innings, scattering four hits, one run (earned) while fanning five. Tyler White also extended his on-base streak to 56 consecutive games dating back to 2017 (45 in 2018) with a walk in the first.
The Grizzlies welcome the El Paso Chihuahuas to Chukchansi Park for a five-game series starting Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PT with pre-game starting at 6:45 PT on milb.streamguys1.com/fresnogrizzlies. Fresno RHP Cy Sneed (4-2, 4.36) and El Paso RHP Walker Lockett (2-4, 5.16) are the probable pitchers.
