Stukel Lifts Hitmen in Shootout

Calgary, AB - Jakob Stukel scored the shootout winner to propel the Calgary Hitmen past the Kootenay ICE 3-2 on Wednesday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Ice led 1-0 after the opening period on a marker from Brett Davis before the Hitmen stormed back in the middle frame. Goals from Mark Kastelic and Riley Stotts in the first two minutes gave the Hitmen the lead. It stayed that way until Alec Baer forced overtime for Kootenay early in the third period.

It was Calgary's 20th trip beyond regulation this season which ties the franchise record set back in 2004/05.

The Hitmen outshot the ICE 32-27. Goaltender Matthew Armitage made 25 saves to pick up the win helping Calgary improve to 4-1-4 in their last nine games.

The Hitmen will now get set to cap the 2017-18 regular season with a home-and-home set against the Edmonton Oil Kings. It begins Saturday, Mar. 17 at Rogers Place before the return match on Sunday, Mar. 18 at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Game time is 2:00 p.m. for the season finale on Fan Appreciation Day presented by Vision Travel. There will be over 100 giveaways with the grand prize of a `Seven-night all-inclusive trip for two to the BlueBay Grand Esmeralda in Cancun, Mexico'. Fans will be treated to a pre-game Hitmen awards ceremony and post-game meet and greet in the Chrysler Club.

It's also the last Sunday Funday, presented by Pocky. There will be face painters, concourse activities, lots of giveaways and a post-game family skate that is FREE with your game ticket. Sunday Funday contests also feature a specially priced $8.99 ticket (plus applicable fees) for kids 12 and under.
