Modesto Nuts News Release
San Bernardino, CA. - Despite a good beginning by Sam Howad, the Modesto Nuts fell 7-0 to the Inland Empire 66ers on Monday night at San Manuel Stadium.
Howard (L, 2-3) faced the minimum and struck out five in his first three innings of work for the Nuts (17-27). In the fourth, the 66ers led off with back-to-back singles. Howard retired the next two before Michael Strentz delivered the two-out, two-run single to put the 66ers on the board first and for good.
Howard worked 6.1 innings with seven strikeouts and two walks allowing six runs but only three earned tallies.
Dixon Llorens (W, 2-1) tossed two scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
The Nuts had some chances early that they could not cash in. They loaded the bases in the second but could not score. They had two hits in the third but did not score as well.
The Nuts head home to open a three-game series against the High Desert Mavericks on Tuesday night at John Thurman Field. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 7:00 p.m. Listen live online.
