
Strong Second Half Sends Blue over BayHawks

LAS VEGAS - The Oklahoma City Blue (5-10) defeated the Erie BayHawks (4-12), 103-90, on Day Two of the 2019 MGM Resorts NBA G League Winter Showcase.
Oklahoma City Thunder two-way player Luguentz Dort netted a game-high 24 points and guard Devon Hall added 16 points in today's outing. Reserve DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell recorded a near double-double with 15 points and eight rebounds in 23 minutes.
Kevin Hervey contributed 11 points in 18 minutes off the bench, while Thunder assignment player Justin Patton turned in season highs in rebounds and assists, grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds and six assists to go with nine points and five blocks.
"I thought we executed defensively and got contributions from everyone who saw the floor, which was good to see and will be important for our team heading forward," Head Coach Grant Gibbs said. "There's a lot we can improve on heading into the next game of the Showcase and we'll look to build on our defensive performance today and continue to improve going forward."
Oklahoma City used the three-point shot to its advantage, hitting 12 three-pointers on 37.5 percent shooting. The game featured 12 lead changes and three ties, all occurring before the fourth quarter. The Blue led by as many as 19 in the game.
In the loss, Erie received strong contributions from New Orleans Pelicans two-way player Josh Gray and forward Kavell Bigby-Williams as each player nearly recorded a double-double. Gray had 16 points and nine assists while Bigby-Williams registered 16 points and eight rebounds. Reserve Taren Sullivan also added 17 points in 20 minutes in tonight's contest.
Oklahoma City will wrap up its time at the Showcase on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. CST against the winner of tonight's Westchester Knicks-Greensboro Swarm game.
