Salt Lake City Advances to Winter Showcase Championship Game with Overtime Win

LAS VEGAS - The Salt Lake City Stars (12-2) defeated the Wisconsin Herd (13-3), 123-115, on Day Two of the 2019 MGM Resorts NBA G League Winter Showcase. The Stars extended its winning streak to 12 with the victory.
On assignment from the Utah Jazz, forward Juwan Morgan recorded a near double-double with a team-high 26 points and nine rebounds. Jazz two-way player Justin Wright-Forman and Jazz assignee Nigel Williams-Goss contributed 22 and 23 points, respectively. Reserve Paul White netted 14 points and grabbed four rebounds in 20 minutes of action. The Stars improved to 12-2 with the victory.
While the Stars led by as many as 16, the Herd would come back to tie the game with just over a minute left in the fourth quarter. The game featured nine lead changes and six ties.
All five players in the Herd's starting lineup scored in double figures. Rayjon Tucker led Wisconsin with a game-high 34 points along with seven rebounds in 41 minutes. Cameron Reynolds registered 17 points and six rebounds while Jaylen Adams accounted for 18 points and seven rebounds. With the loss, the Herd fell to 13-3.
Both teams will return to Winter Showcase action on Sunday, Dec. 22. Salt Lake City will compete for the $100,000 prize in the Winter Showcase Championship Game at 4 p.m. PT on ESPN2. Wisconsin will wrap its Showcase slate at 6 p.m. PT. Their opponents will be determined by the result of tonight's Grand Rapids Drive-Memphis Hustle game.
