Strong Play in Net by Gibson Leads Rangers to 4-1 Win

Kitchener netminder John Gibson closed the door on the Saginaw Spirit to help lead the Rangers to a 4-1 win. Although the Spirit out-shot the Rangers 36-25 they were unable to get past Gibson.

The Rangers capitalized on the power play when Radek Faksa scored his first goal of the season at 14:37 of the first period. Michael Catenacci and Max Iafrate assisted on the goal.

Kitchener out-shot Saginaw 14-11 in the period.

Spirit Peter Hermenegildo leveled out the score 1-1 by the 1:52 mark of the second period.

The Rangers replied with back to back goals that gave them a 3-1 advantage. Jonathan Jasper with his first of the season at 3:30 and Zach Lorentz also his first at 4:38.

Matia Marcantuoni settled down a rolling puck and put it past Saginaw netminder Tadeas Galansky at the 16:00 mark and made it 4-1 Rangers.

The remainder of the period was scoreless. Shots on goal were 13 Saginaw and six Kitchener.

A blank third period gave Kitchener a 4-1 victory. Saginaw out-shot Kitchener 12-5.

The Rangers travel to Sault Ste. Marie Saturday, October 1st for a 7:35pm game versus the Greyhounds. They return home on Friday, October 7th to host the Saginaw Spirit at 7:30pm. Kitchener returns to home ice on Friday, October 7th at 7:30pm when they play host to the Saginaw Spirit.
