Guelph, Ont. - The Erie Otters dropped their third straight game to begin the season as the Guelph Storm won, 10-2, Friday night in Guelph.

Zack Mitchell had three goals and an assist while Francis Menard tallied a goal and three assists.

Because of a fatal accident on the Queen Elizabeth Way that delayed the Otters' arrival in Guelph, the game started 20 minutes late. The Storm took advantage of a fatigued Otters squad for three goals in the first 20 minutes to take a 3-0 lead into the second period.

The Otters came out with a different attitude for the second period, as Mike Cazzola scored his first goal of the season 82 seconds into the frame. His centering pass to Greg McKegg bounced off of Storm defenseman Matt Finn and into the net to put the Otters on the board.

Mac McDonnell put the Otters within a goal with six minutes, 35 seconds left in the period after Nick Betz forced a turnover and found McDonnell in the slot, where the 19 year-old forward fired a wrist shot over the right shoulder of Garret Sparks to make it 3-2, Storm.

Despite Erie's strong effort in the first 16 and a half minutes of the second, the Storm rallied for seven unanswered goals through the final 23 and a half minutes to take a 10-2 win.

The Otters return to Erie for their home opener Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. against the Oshawa Generals. Epic Web Studios will host a pre-game party with free beer and pop beginning at 4:30 p.m. with music from DJ Michael John and food from Edinboro Hots. The first 3,000 fans receive a magnetic schedule courtesy of Springhill Suites, Your Hometown Pharmacy and Presto Cleaning. There will also be a post-game meet-and-greet with the Erie Otters.
