Oshawa Generals News Release

Oshawa, ON - 2-and-0 against Oshawa in exhibition play, the Bulls beat the Generals in their first regular season matchup with a 2-1 victory in front of 3,108 fans at the General Motors Centre Friday night.

Once again, the Generals were forced to make do without key contributors to their line-up. Nicklas Jensen who was assigned back to the Generals earlier in the day had yet to return to Oshawa, while Andy Andreoff and Scott Valentine are still away at AHL camps.

Generals Captain, Boone Jenner made his return to the line-up after missing last Sunday's home opener due to a lower body injury. Lucas Lessio helped solidify Oshawa's top forward group making his season debut.

Dan Altshuller made his third consecutive start to open the season and was solid again allowing just two goals on 29 shots. The Bulls elected to go with John Chartrand and put up a big performance in his debut for the team after Malcolm Subban was given the night off after playing last night in Peterborough.

Bulls Captain Luke Judson scored his first goal of the season of the season just under seven minutes into the game giving Belleville the early lead.

The Generals have shown their tenacity early on this season and responded with a goal by Lucas Lessio, who scored in his first game, on his first shot of the season to even the game at one just over two minutes later.

The story has been the same for the Generals this season, despite their high powered offence, Oshawa has not been able to capitalize on their chances and finished the game 0-for-7 on the powerplay.

At the 4:57 mark of the 3rd period, the Bulls' finally broke through when defenseman Stephen Silas beat Dan Altshuller out of a scramble in front of the net. The goal wasn't pretty, but in the end, it gave Belleville what they needed, a 2-1 lead.

For the rest of the game, Oshawa desperately chased after the equalizer. They almost found it with 8 minutes left in the game when Captain, Boone Jenner fed Christian Thomas from the wing with a seeing-eye pass. Thomas unleashed a one-timer howitzer from inside the circles, but remained snake bitten when John Chartrand made easily his best save of the night.

The Generals outshot the Bulls 30-29.

Oshawa won't have long to ponder the loss. They are back on the road tomorrow night for a 7:00 PM game against the Erie Otters.

The Generals next home game is Thanksgiving Monday, October 10th at 2:05 PM.
