Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

HAGERSTOWN, MD - Three Kannapolis pitchers combined to limit Hagerstown to one unearned run over the course of a doubleheader on Thursday night at Municipal Stadium to help the Intimidators to a pair of wins, 5-1 and 4-0.

Charlie Leesman (6-4) pitched the Intimidators first complete game of the season in game one, firing the full seven innings. The southpaw allowed just one unearned run while striking out five and walking one.

Drew Garcia carried the offensive load in game one, finishing a double shy of the cycle. Jon Gilmore also picked up a pair of hits in four at-bats.

Game two was yet another pitchers duel, as Kevin Asselin and Paul Demny battled back and forth. Asselin (2-2) was outstanding in his first professional start, keeping the Suns scoreless through his five innings on the mound.

Demny (1-7) was nearly as good, but stumbled in the sixth inning. Jorge Castillo hit the Intimidators first grand slam of the season to account for all four of the Intimidators runs.

Tyson Corley worked the final two frames to finish off the shutout and help Kannapolis (5-2, 42-35) to their season-best fifth win in a row.
