LOUISVILLE, KY - The Louisville Bats used a five-run bottom of the fourth inning to defeat the Gwinnett Stripers 7-2 in the final game of the three-game series Sunday afternoon at Louisville Slugger Field.

With the win, the Bats swept the series and sent the Stripers to a 3-3 mark on the six-game road trip.

Things looked good early for Gwinnett as the second batter of the game Dustin Peterson cracked a solo home run (5) to left off Louisville starter Brandon Finnegan for a 1-0 lead.

But the Stripers' offense sputtered from there while the Bats piled up runs against Matt Wisler.

In the bottom of the third, Phillip Ervin drilled a one-out triple off the wall in right and scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly to right by Nick Senzel.

An inning later, the Bats sent nine men to the plate, scoring five runs on four hits. After a Wisler wild pitch with a man on third broke a 1-1 tie and put Louisville ahead, the big blow came on a bases-loaded triple by Ervin that turned a one-run game into a 5-1 Bats lead. The Bats added an RBI single by Senzel in the inning and headed to the fifth with a 6-1 lead.

In the bottom of the fifth, an RBI double by Blake Trahan off reliever David Peterson made it 7-1.

The Stripers finally got on the board again in the top of the ninth as Dustin Peterson led off win a single to center off reliever Jose Rafael De Paula, moved to second on a walk by Michael Reed and scored on a single to right by Rio Ruiz for the 7-2 final.

Wisler (L, 1-3) pitched 4.0 innings with seven hits, six earned runs, three walks and four strikeouts for the Stripers. David Peterson tossed 1.0 inning with two hits and one earned run. Chad Bell went 2.0 innings with two strikeouts. Josh Ravin worked 1.0 inning with two hits.

For the Bats, Finnegan (W, 1-4) pitched 7.0 innings with three hits, one earned run, one walk and seven strikeouts. Zach Neal tossed 1.0 inning with one strikeout. De Paula went 1.0 inning with two hits, one run, one walk and two strikeouts.

Dustin Peterson led Gwinnett by going 2-for-4 with the homer, two runs scored and an RBI. Reed went 1-for-3 and has reached base safely in all six games since joining the Stripers on May 29. Danny Santana went 0-for-4 to snap his 11-game on-base streak.

For Louisville (20-33), Ervin was 2-for-5 with two triples, two runs scored and three RBIs and Senzel was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

The Gwinnett Stripers (23-30) return to Coolray Field on Tuesday to begin a six-game homestand. Game one of a three-game series vs. the Lehigh Valley IronPigs begins at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Lucas Sims (2-2, 1.38 ERA) will start for Gwinnett, while left-hander Cole Irvin (6-1, 2.73 ERA) will start for Lehigh Valley.
