'Strike out Breast Cancer' Highlights Beavers Homestand at PGE Park

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers play host to the club's annual "Strike-Out-Breast-Cancer" Day, presented by Health Net of Oregon, as part of an event-packed, four-game homestand against the Salt Lake Bees, starting Saturday at PGE Park.

Highlighting the weekend is the Beavers' "Strike-Out-Breast-Cancer" event, presented by Health Net of Oregon, on Sunday as part of a doubleheader with the Bees. Among the several activities, the Beavers will wear special, one-of-a-kind blue and pink jerseys that will be auctioned off through a silent auction during the day to raise funds for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Each winning bidder will be presented their player's autographed, game-worn jersey after Game 2.

Each Sunday is Kids Sunday at PGE Park. Prior to the first pitch of Game 1 at 1:05 p.m., kids 12 and under can take advantage of the Beavers' Kids-Eat-Free plan, play catch on the field and get player autographs. After Game 2 of the doubleheader, kids are invited to run the bases.

The Beavers' homestand begins with a Webkinz Doll Giveaway on Saturday, presented by Health Net of Oregon. The first 2,000 fans through the gates receive a beaver Webkinz doll. Saturday's series opener against Salt Lake is also a Cricket Wireless Family Pack night. Family packs include four tickets, ballpark food for four, Cricket Wireless Family Plan coupons and four Bullwinkle's Family Fun Center tickets. Family packs are available through the PGE Park box office, area Ticketmaster locations or online at www.ticketmaster.com.

On Monday, the Beavers will recognize Oregon's all-state high school baseball players prior to the game against Salt Lake in a pre-game presentation.

Two of the four games on the homestand will be televised live on FSN, including Monday's contest and Tuesday's Businessperson special day game, with first pitch at 12:05 p.m. Sunday's doubleheader will be broadcast live on Sportsradio 95.5 The Game.

Tickets for the Beavers' homestand against Salt Lake, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, are available through the PGE Park box office, area Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at (800) 745-3000. SPECIAL EVENT HIGHLIGHTS (Homestand 10): Saturday, July 31 Webkinz Doll Giveaway - Beavers vs. Salt Lake - 7:05 p.m. The Beavers open a four-game series against Salt Lake on a Fred Meyer Super Giveaway Saturday at PGE Park. The first 2,000 fans in attendance for the series opener between Portland and Salt Lake receive a beaver Webkinz doll, presented by Health Net of Oregon.

Sunday, Aug. 1 "Strike-Out-Breast Cancer" Day - Beavers vs. Salt Lake - 1:05 p.m. (doubleheader) As part of a doubleheader against the Bees, the Beavers continue to aid in the fight against breast cancer as they play host to "Strike-Out-Breast-Cancer" Day, presented by Health Net of Oregon. The annual event features a silent auction of limited-edition pink and blue jerseys worn by the Beavers during the day. Proceeds from the auction benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Fans with the winning bid will be presented their autographed, game-worn jersey following Game 2. Prior to the first pitch of Game 1, kids 12 and under can take advantage of the team's Kids-Eat-Free plan, play catch on the field and get player autographs. Following the doubleheader, kids are invited to run the bases at PGE Park on a Kids Sunday.

Monday, Aug. 2 Make-A-Difference Monday - Beavers vs. Salt Lake - 7:05 p.m. The Beavers and Bees square off on Make-A-Difference Monday at PGE Park live on FSN. The Portland Police Sunshine Division will be on hand to collect non-perishable food items at the park. Fans who donate to the cause receive a coupon good for a free ticket of equal or lesser value with the purchase of one ticket. Before the first pitch, the Beavers will recognize Oregon's all-state high school baseball players during a special on-field presentation.

Tuesday, Aug. 3 Businessperson Special Day Game - Beavers vs. Salt Lake - 12:05 p.m. The four-game homestand closes with a Businessperson special day game on a $4 Fred Meyer Tuesday at PGE Park; first pitch is 12:05 p.m. Throughout the day, 200 general admission tickets will be available for $4 through the PGE Park box office and Ticketmaster outlets at local Fred Meyer locations.
