Modesto, C.A. - Early offense holds up for the Modesto Nuts who snapped a seven-game skid with a 5-4 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm on Monday night at John Thurman Field.
Drew Weeks whacked a solo home run to get the Nuts' (9-15) offense going in the second. With runners at the corners later in the inning, Dom Nunez stole home on a double steal. Omar Carrizales later cracked a RBI double to cap the three-run second.
In the fourth, Max White swiped home for his league-leading eleventh stolen base of the year. Emerson Jimenez followed later in the inning with a RBI fielder's choice all against the Storm (11-14) starter Martires Arias (L, 0-3).
Four arms worked out of the Nuts' bullpen and allowed only one run. Jerry Vasto (S, 4/5) slammed the door shut in the ninth with a perfect frame. Carlos Polanco starter for the Nuts and worked just 4.1 and allowed five runs on five hits and seven walks.
