Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - It took the extra period but not too long into it for Texas to win their fifth straight game Friday night when they defeated the Arizona Sundogs 3-2.

It was the Brahmas' annual 'Teddy Bear Toss' and the home team knew just what to do to get the stuffed animals on the ice when they found themselves on the powerplay. Within four seconds of the man advantage Jordan Cameron edged J.F. Perras in net for the 1-0 lead. Minutes later Arizona was on the job when Matt Burto took a holding penalty midway through the opening period. The Brahmas have proven their strength shorthanded this season and were able to add to their league-leading shorthanded goals scored when Cameron fed Tyler Skworchinski for his ninth of the season and third shortie of the season.

A fresh sheet of ice was just what the Sundogs needed when they returned from the first intermission and converted on a shot by Joey Sides at the 1:29 marker in the second. Arizona tied it up with a goal when Konrad Reeder screened goaltender Brett Jaeger on the powerplay in the third period to send the game into the extra period.

Back on the ice since his three goal effort last Saturday, the league's leading goal scorer among defensemen Kevin McLeod netted the game winner with only 19 seconds ticked away in the overtime. Cameron and Craig Minard were credited with the assists.

The Brahmas hit the road to Tulsa tomorrow night as they take on the Oilers for a 7:30 PM faceoff. All of the action can be caught on CHL TV. Texas' next home game is Sunday, December 27 when they host the Wichita Thunder for the first time this season at 4:05 PM.
