Reading Fightin Phils News Release
The Reading Fightin Phils dropped game one, 6 to 1, of the six game set to the newly affiliated Somerset Patriots. The Fightins recorded just four hits at their first ever game at TD Bank Ballpark the current space of the Double-A Yankees. Daniel Brito recorded Reading's only RBI when he pushed Dalton Guthrie across home. The R-Phils bullpen was strong with Jonathan Hennigan, Braden Zarbnisky, and Tyler Carr.
Bryson Stott, Philadelphia's number two prospect, joined the team in Somerset earlier this morning for his first Double-A game. The shortstop got the start in the field and also batted second in the lineup. He reached base twice on a fielder's choice and a walk. Stott also recorded one putout and two assists defensively.
Brito recorded two singles in the leadoff spot, while Guthrie and Colby Fitch notched Reading's other hits. Fitch also swiped second for his third stolen bag of the season.
Kyle Glogoski (L, 0-2) got the ball first throwing 65 pitches in three innings, allowing five runs, four of which were solo homers. Henningan came out of the bullpen first allowing a home run of his own and striking out two in 2.0 IP. Zarbnisky threw a completely clean two registering two K's. Carr took the eighth letting up just one hit.
Somerset scored early and often, mainly by sending the ball over the fence. Both Donny Sands and Dermis Garcia recorded two long balls each while Diego Castillo sent a solo one deep to left for the Patriot's first run of the night in the first. Matt Pita crossed the plate as well after reaching on a double.
JP Sears (W, 3-0) got the start going five with three hits and one run, albeit unearned. Janson Junk (S, 1) finished the rest of the game off in relief. The Fightins threatened him with the bases loaded in the seventh but he was able to get out of it , and the rest of the game, without any damage.
