Brockton Rox News Release

(Brockton, Mass. - June 1, 2011) - On a night of torrential downpours that caused two rains delays of a combined three hours and 14 minutes, the Brockton Rox (5-1) and the Quebec Capitales (3-2) ended Wednesday night's action in a stalemate.

The ballgame, tied at two, will be resumed before the series opener in Quebec City when these two teams meet next on June 7. Following the conclusion of the suspended game, the teams will play a full nine inning game as scheduled.

Melvin Falu got things started early for Brockton with a two-run homer in the first inning, giving the home team a 2-0 lead. It was Falu's second home run in as many days and his third of the season, but the offense would end there.

Quebec starter Dan Sausville (0-0) and relievers Guillome Duguay and TJ Stanton combined to retire the final 20 Rox to come to the plate following Falu's blast.

The Capitales pitching staff was impressive in the series, allowing just four runs in the three games.

Despite the offensive struggles, the Rox possessed a 2-1 lead with two outs in the top of the fifth inning, before rain and lightening forced the teams off of the field for the second time. Especially frustrated was Rox starter Mark Rosen (0-0), who was just two strikes away from his first win and an official complete game.

The Capitales eventually evened the score in the sixth inning after Sebastien Boucher sprinted home from third on a Jimmer Kennedy wild pitch.

The Rox kick off a week long road trip in Worcester on Thursday morning June 2 at 11 a.m. that will conclude in Quebec City on June 9.
