Playing three games in three days, the Storm picked up two of a possible six points this past week. On Friday night, the Storm hosted the London Knights for the third and final time this season. For the second consecutive game, the Storm could not generate much offense and were shutout losing to the Knights 3-0 in front of a home crowd of 4,918. Saturday evening the Storm traveled to Sarnia beating the Sting 2-1. Drew Doughty scored both Storm goals and Thomas McCollum made 25 saves in the win. With an excellent defensive game, Ryan Parent was named the third star of the game. Sunday afternoon the Storm traveled back home to Guelph to host the Saginaw Spirit for the second time this season. Leading 3-2 in the second, the Spirit scored two late second period goals to tie the game heading into the second intermission. Three third period goals by the Spirit were too much for the Storm to overcome and they ended up losing the contest 7-4. The Storm currently have a record of 32-21-3-9 and 76 points to sit third in the Midwest Division and sixth in the Western Conference, three points ahead of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

Guelph Storm Grand & Toy Player of the Week (Week ending March 4th)

Drew Doughty- Doughty finished the week with two goals in three games and was awarded with a star in two of his three games played. Through 64 games this season, the London native has 20 goals and 52 assists for 72 points. Doughty currently leads the Storm in points (72), assists (52) and powerplay goals (14). The second year defenceman was held off the scoreboard in Friday's 3-0 loss against the London Knights, but proved to be the best Storm player on the ice being awarded with the third star of the game. Saturday night Doughty scored both Storm goals in the 2-1 Guelph win over the Sarnia Sting and was named the first star of the game. In the 7-4 loss to the Saginaw Spirit on Sunday, Doughty was held off the scoreboard. This is Doughty's second consecutive player of the week honour and third in less than a month.

Wednesday March 14th: Kitchener Rangers at Guelph Storm 7:00 pm

On Wednesday night the Kitchener Rangers visit the GSEC for the final time this season. The Storm won the last match-up 5-0 at home in Guelph back on February 24th. The shutout was Thomas McCollum's league leading fifth as he stopped 32 shots. Drew Doughty scored 2 goals and Corey Syvret added a goal and two assists in the win. The Storm currently hold the regular season series lead winning five of the seven match-ups thus far. The Rangers currently have a record of 45-16-1-3 with 94 points and sit second in the Midwest Division and third in the Western Conference Division.

Storm Record Set to Fall

The Guelph Storm will set a franchise attendance record for the sixth time in seven seasons on Wednesday night when the club hosts the Kitchener Rangers. Through their first 32 home games of the 2006/07 regular season, the Guelph Storm have hosted a total of 135,080 fans (4,221 per game). On Wednesday night versus the Rangers, the 3,185th fan through the arena gates will establish a new franchise attendance record - shattering the previous mark of 138,264 set during the 2004/05 season.

With two games remaining Storm fans are on their way to shattering two milestones that have never been approached during the first 15 seasons of Guelph Storm hockey.

- With a total of 4,920 fans combined between Wednesday night and Friday night versus the Windsor Spitfires, the Storm will surpass 140,000 fans in the regular season for the first time in team history.

- Should total attendance in the final two regular season home games exceed 7,720 fans, the Guelph Storm franchise will average in excess of 4,200 fans per game for the first time in franchise history

Friday March 16th: Windsor Spitfires at Guelph Storm, 7:30 pm

Friday night the Windsor Spitfires visit the GSEC for a 7:30 pm start. The last time these two teams met was back on October 28th when the Spitfires defeated the Storm 4-3. Guelph has the regular season series lead winning two of the three games thus far. Rafael Rotter scored two goals as the Storm won the first contest 5-0 in Windsor. The Storm also won the next match up 4-3 in Guelph on October 27th. Cody St. Jacques picked up his first win of the season and Ryan Pottruff was named the first star of the game with one goal and two assists. The Spitfires currently have a record of 17-41-2-5 with 41 points and sit ninth in the Western Conference.

Guelph Storm Fan Appreciation Night

The Guelph Storm will host their annual Fan Appreciation Night this Friday, March 16th when the Windsor Spitfires visit the GSEC for a 7:30 pm start.

Among the great giveaways during Friday night's game will be $1,000 in Pizza Pizza vouchers for the Pizza Pizza Fan of the Year. Spyke will be on the lookout throughout the game for the top Storm fan of the season including 21 different qualifiers from Pizza Pizza Fan of the Game winners from earlier this season. The Storm will also be awarding several lucky seat prizes including several autographed Guelph Storm items throughout the game.

Prior to Fan Appreciation Night, the Guelph Storm will continue the tradition of honouring their three overage players in a special presentation immediately before the game. Three fans will be randomly drawn to present commemorative plaques to Storm OA's Mike McLean, Ryan Pottruff and Anton Hedman. Saturday March 11th: Guelph Storm at Owen Sound Attack, 7:30 pm

The Storm travel to Owen Sound for their final regular season game on Saturday night. The last time these two teams met was on February 28th when the Storm defeated the Attack 4-1. Corey Syvret scored two goals and Drew Doughty picked up three assists in the win. So far this season the Storm have the regular season series lead winning five of six games. The only game Owen Sound won against the Storm this year was in a shootout when they defeated the Storm 2-1. With a record of 31-28-3-4 and 69 points, the Attack currently sit eight in the Western Conference. Guelph Storm Playoff Ticket Information

The Guelph Storm Hockey Club have announced details regarding 2006/07 playoff tickets including an exclusive one day only SEASON TICKET HOLDER ONLY pre-sale for their Western Conference Quarterfinal series on Monday, March 19th beginning at 10 am.

Monday, March 19th - SEASON TICKET HOLDER ONLY PRE-SALE

On Monday, March 19th at 10 am, the Guelph Storm will hold a one day only season ticket holder ONLY pre-sale for the Storm's Western Conference Quarterfinal series. This pre-sale will be limited to Guelph Storm season ticket holders ONLY - who will be permitted to buy additional tickets for all three potential Storm home games in round one of the OHL Playoffs at regular walk-up prices. Season ticket holders can purchase additional tickets on Monday, March 19th in person only at the Guelph Storm box office in Old Quebec Street Mall and are asked to bring their Season Ticket Holder ID Card. Ticket sales for Game Six of the Conference Quarterfinal series must be purchased by credit card to facilitate refunds in the event that the game is not necessary.

Tuesday, March 20th - ON-SALE DATE FOR GENERAL PUBLIC

On Tuesday, March 20th at 10 am, tickets will go on sale to the general public for the Storm's Western Conference Quarterfinal series by calling (519) 837-9690 or visiting the Guelph Storm box office. Tickets can be purchased for all possible Guelph Storm home games in round one of the OHL Playoffs.
