Toledo Walleye News Release
Toledo Storm Head Coach and Director of Player Personal Nick Vitucci was excited when discussing Maleyko; "I can't wait to see Jason in a Storm uniform. He is a solid defenseman who will help our defense. Even though he has a year of pro experience, I feel that he has a lot of potential and will continue to improve."
Maleyko, a native of nearby Windsor, Ontario, comes to Toledo with one year of ECHL experience splitting time this past season with Reading and Cincinnati. His combined totals were four goals and thirteen assists. Jason appeared in ten games against the Storm this past campaign and netted three assists. Maleyko, captain of the Brampton Battalion in the Ontario Hockey League for three seasons, has the honor of scoring the first ever goal for the Battalion at the beginning of their expansion year of 1998-99. A 2003-04 ECHL All Star, Jason is extremely excited on coming to Toledo. "I am looking forward to playing in Toledo for Nick Vitucci. Toledo has a terrific hockey history which I am happy to now be a part of."
P.J. Martin came to Toledo on June 6th from Trenton through the March 16th deal with the Columbia Inferno. As an offensive defenseman, P.J. put up 8 goals along with 15 assists for the Titans in his first pro campaign. Martin also played 7 games in the AHL with Manchester, Springfield, and Binghamton.
