
Storm Set to Host "UNK Night" at Viaero Center

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm will host the Waterloo Black Hawks tonight for "UNK Night" at the Viaero Center. Tonight's game is the last matchup of the regular season between the Black Hawks and the Storm. The Storm will host several groups and students from the University of Nebraska Kearney at tonight's game. The "UNK Night" promotion includes $5 Student Tickets and $5 Adult tickets for the game. A limited number of tickets remain available for purchase for tonight's game. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Viaero Center Box Office at 308-338-8144 or by visiting www.StormHockey.com. Puck drop for tonight is set for 7:05pm.
Tri-City (22-13-2-1) returns to action this week at the Viaero Center for three home games following last weekend's three-game road trip. The Storm defeated the Omaha Lancers by a final score of 7-2 at Ralston Arena last Friday to begin the weekend. Hunter Strand (2), Ben Schoen, Cole McWard, Mark Estapa, Cole O'Hara, and Kyler Kovich all scored goals in the win. On Saturday, Tri-City posted a 3-1 road victory over the Sioux City Musketeers at the Tyson Events Center in the middle game of the weekend. Ben Schoen, Gavin Brindley, and Hunter Strand netted goals in the victory. The Storm dropped a 5-2 road decision to the Waterloo Black Hawks in the final game of the weekend on Sunday. Kyler Kovich and Ben Schoen scored Tri-City's goals in the loss. Tri-City is 2-2-1-0 in five previous games this season against Waterloo. A regulation win tonight would give the Storm a season series victory against the Black Hawks. Tonight's matchup between the Storm and the Black Hawks is the only game on the league schedule. Tri-City has the opportunity to jump the Omaha Lancers for 2nd place in the USHL's Western Conference standings with a win in tonight's home game. Scoring leaders for Tri-City entering tonight's game include; Carter Mazur (16), Ben Schoen (14), Hunter Strand (13), Cole McWard (13), Rhett Pitlick (10), and Mark Estapa (9).
Waterloo (15-22-1-0) travels to Kearney tonight for the final time this season following a 5-2 home defeated of the Storm at Young Arena on Sunday. Max Sasson (2), Alex Gaffney, Ryan O'Hara, and Michael LaStarza all scored goals in the victory. Emmett Croteau made twenty-eight saves on thirty shots to record the victory in goal. Tonight's game is the first game of a three-game road weekend for the Black Hawks. Tomorrow, Waterloo will travel to the Ice Box for a matchup with the Lincoln Stars before completing the three-game road trip at Buccaneer against the Des Moines Buccaneers on Saturday night. The Black Hawks enter this three-game stretch seven points behind the Sioux Falls Stampede for 6th place in the Western Conference standings. Waterloo's offense has produced eleven goals in the last two games and the team has outscored its opponents 11-4. The Black Hawks won last year's season series four games to one. Waterloo holds a 13-9-0-0 record against the Storm in games played over the past five seasons.
