
Laatsch, Buium, Schimek Selected to Participate in Biosteel All-American Game

The annual USA Hockey Biosteel All-American Game has featured 188 NHL draft picks, including 44 first-round selections, since its inception in 2012 and this year three Sioux City Musketeers will be participating.
Shai Buium, a defenseman committed to Denver University, is rated as a B-prospect by NHL Central Scouting, indicating a likely second or third-round selection. The San Diego native has captured the attention of scouts with his size, puck-handling ability and agility. Buium began the year playing for high school hockey powerhouse Shattuck-St. Mary's where he tallied two goals and eleven assists in 17 games., Buium has also totaled four goals and 14 assists in 40 career games with the Musketeers.
Daniel Laatsch and Bennett Schimek are both C-graded prospects, indicating a likely fourth, fifth or sixth-round selection. Laatsch, a 6'5 defenseman committed to the University of Wisconsin, joins the Musketeers after spending two seasons with the US National Team Development Program. Laatsch made an immediate impact during his first season in Sioux City, collecting 12 points with a plus-minus of 13 through 39 games. Schimek, a forward headed for Providence College, has tallied nine goals and eight assists through 37 games this season. Schimek appeared in three games with the Omaha Lancers as a rookie before coming to Sioux City in the offseason.
The 2021 Biosteel All-American Game will be played on April 7th at the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00ct and the game will be broadcast on NHL Network.
