Storm Set to Host Lancers in Game 2 of 2020 Preseason

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm hosts the Omaha Lancers tonight at the Viaero Center in Game #2 of the 2020 preseason schedule. On Saturday, the Storm posted a 4-2 win over the Lincoln Stars to pick up its first win of the 2020 Corn Cup preseason event. The winner of tonight's game between the Storm and the Lancers will take control of 1st place in the Corn Cup standings. As previously announced, the matchup tonight will be closed to the public due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Tonight's game is the second of six scheduled preseason games for the Storm. Tonight's game is the first game of a three-game week for Tri-City. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm.

Tri-City (1-0-0-0) defeated rival Lincoln by a final score of 4-2 last Saturday at the Viaero Center in its first preseason game of the year. Guillaume Richard scored the first two goals of the game in the 1st period, Morgan Winters added a goal in the 2nd period, and Cade Villegas scored the final goal of the game to give Tri-City the 4-2 win. Ryan Ouellette turned away 21 of the Stars' 23 shots to record the victory in goal. Drew Montgomery led all skaters with a plus/minus rating of +3 in the game. The Storm finished the 2019-2020 regular season with a 3-1-2-1 record against the Lancers. In the 2019 preseason, Tri-City posted a perfect 3-0-0-0 record against Omaha. Following tonight's home game against Omaha, Tri-City travels to the Ice Box in Lincoln for a battle against the Lincoln Stars on Friday before returning home to the Viaero Center to host the Lancers on Sunday. Puck drop for Sunday's game against the Lancers is scheduled for 4:05pm.

Omaha (1-0-0-0) posted a 4-1 win over the Lincoln Stars on Sunday in its first preseason game of the year. Alex Gaffney, Tyler Carpenter (2) and Nolan Renwick all netted goals in the Lancers' road win. Jakub Dobes stopped 20 of Lincoln's 21 shots on net to record the win in goal for Omaha. Omaha finished the game 2/7 on the power play and successfully killed six of Lincoln's seven power play attempts. The Lancers finished the 2019-2020 regular season as the 2nd place team in the USHL's Western Conference. Omaha produced a 27-15-7-1 record last season after missing the Clark Cup Playoffs during the Storm's Anderson Cup Championship season in 2018-2019. Tonight's road game against the Storm will be the teams' second preseason game of 2020. Following tonight's road contest against Tri-City, Omaha will travel to the Ice Box in Lincoln for a rivalry matchup against the Lincoln Stars on Saturday night. Omaha will play its final three games of the 2020 preseason at home.
