KEARNEY, NE - The Omaha Lancers were defeated by the Tri-City Storm by a final score of 5-2 on Wednesday night in game two of the 2020 USHL preseason.
The Storm scored two goals within the first ten minutes of the first period. The Lancers would get on the board when Zakary Karpa (11:48) netted a goal on a breakaway. The Storm would add to their lead scoring at 12:33 making the score 3-1.
After a scoreless second period, the Storm would score just ten-seconds into the third frame. A minute later, Hunter McDonald (1:10) got the Lancers their second goal of the night scoring shorthanded. The Storm would add an empty-net goal at 17:31 taking the win over the Lancers by a final score of 5-2. The Storm outshot the Lancers 37 to 18.
The Lancers are now 2nd place in the Corn Cup Standings with a record of 2-2. Tri-City sits at first place with a 2-0 record and Lincoln in third with a 0-2 record. Omaha now sits at fourth place in the USHL Western Conference.
Cooper Black and Arteni Sergeyev split tonight's game. Black stopped 14 of the 17 shots he faced, while Sergeyev stopped 18 of the 19 that came his way.
The Lancers return to the ice on Saturday to take on the Lincoln Stars at the Ice Box. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM. All of the action will be on MixLR and HockeyTV.
