
Storm Set for New Year's Eve Showdown against Stars

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm is set to host the Lincoln Stars tonight at the Viaero Center in a New Year's Eve showdown. Tonight's game is expected to sell out, and fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at www.StormHockey.com or by calling the Viaero Center Box Office at 308-338-8144. Puck drop is set for 7:05pm.
Tri-City (6-4-0-0) looks for a bounce back victory over the Stars after dropping last Saturday's road game to Lincoln by a final score of 5-2. Nick Portz and Hunter Strand each scored goals in the Storm's loss. Tonight's game will be the second time Tri-City has hosted Lincoln in a home game this season. The Storm defeated the Stars 3-2 in overtime in Tri-City's Home Opener at the Viaero Center on November 14th. Through the opening ten games of the 2020-2021 regular season, scoring leaders for the Storm include; Carter Mazur (5), Hunter Strand (4), Nick Portz (3), Victor Czerneckianair (3), Parker Lindauer (2), and Mark Estapa (2). Tri-City enters tonight's game in 5th place in the USHL's Western Conference. Following tonight's home game against the Stars, Tri-City travels back to the Ice Box on Saturday for another road game against Lincoln.
Lincoln (2-5-1-0) returns to action tonight following a 5-2 road loss to the Waterloo Black Hawks on Monday night at Young Arena. --Jacob Bauer and Spencer Smith each scored goals in the loss. Lincoln has been outscored by its opponents by a 22-33 margin this season and enters tonight's game as the last place team in the USHL's Western Conference standings. The Stars hold a 5-9-1-0 record in games played at the Viaero Center over the past five seasons. Scoring leaders entering tonight's rivalry matchup against the Storm include; Zach Urdahl (5), Jack O'Leary (2), Aidan Thompson (2), Noah Laba (2), Spencer Smith (2), and Cole Craft (2). Tonight's meeting is the third of ten matchups this year between the Stars and the Storm in the regular season.
The team is offering a "Buy-One-Get-One-Free" ticket deal for tonight's game. Additionally, the Nebraska Lottery is offering a "Family Four Pack" that includes four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas/waters, and two Nebraska Lottery Scratch Off tickets for only $40. Drink specials for the game will include $3 Busch Light Cans, $3 Coors Light Cans, and $3 Domestic Draft Beer.
